Bealtaine (May)

Bealtaine is an Irish word which refers to a festival which occurs on May 1st in Ireland and also is the word for the month of May. Bealtaine is one of four Gaelic seasonal festivals and celebrates the beginning of summer with bonfires and feasting.

This sculpture honours the gentle movement of spring into summer with a delicate aqua tone and raised intaglio linework on the surface representing the flow of time.

This vessel is carefully crafted with fine grains of glass powder and frit, fired twice in the kiln to allow the glass to drape to its own alchemy.
