Summertime

This glass sculpture was created in the summer, capturing a sense of sunshine and playfulness. The palette of pastel blue, yellow and pink is inspired by the 80's, catchy pop tunes on repeat and summery visions of Miami and kitsch tropical knick-knacks like pink flamingos and inflatable pool toys. Gentle raised lines traverse the centre of the piece representing linear time, while the gravity formed folds and curves that occur as the glass forms in the kiln suggest the idea of time folding in on itself. A fleeting moment, forever in glass.
