Sophie Longwill, founder of Longwill Studio, is a multi-disciplinary artist with over 10 years’ experience and training in art, craft and design. She completed a joint major BA (Hons) in Glass Design and History of Art and Design in the National College of Art and Design in Dublin in 2016. She served as a board member for the Glass Society of Ireland for 5 years and in 2019 she founded her company Longwill Studio. She was awarded the ISGNE Artist residency for Autumn 2019 which included 2 months at Berlin Glas, Germany and Northlands Creative, Scotland. Her work has been selected for international and national exhibitions, including upcoming solo show In the Window, Bluecoat Arts Center, Liverpool and the International Biennale of Glass, Sofia, Bulgaria. Other exhibitions of note include Milano Vetro 35, Milan, Italy, Straight Out of Ireland, Philadelphia, USA, and Sculpture in Context, National Botanic Gardens, Dublin. Her work can be found in the permanent collections of Irish Life, Dublin, Kildare County Council, the DOX Centre for Contemporary Art, Czech Republic and the International Biennale of Glass Collection, Bulgaria. Her work has been featured in The Irish Times and Irish Arts Review, and in Portfolio 2021-2022, a selection by the Design and Crafts Council of Ireland of Ireland’s most talented designers and craftspeople.
